Born in Maryland, raised in South Africa, and now residing in Brooklyn, Shalom’s musical journey has been an unconventional one. After experimenting in bands within the New Brunswick DIY scene (where she attended university) Shalom continued to push the boundaries of her songwriting, pulling from her experience as a first-generation woman of color, and a college student in a predominately white space. In 2021, Shalom connected with producer, Ryan Hemsworth. The pair hit it off and began a year long collaboration via Zoom making music together and ultimately creating an extensive body of work that will soon be released. The duo don't shy away from dramatic flair, welcoming the listener into their unique realm of visceral sounds and emotions. The combination of angsty, bass led production and Shalom's ethereal tenor vocals create a captivating, otherworldly listen. “Bad To The Bone” and Glass Animals cover “Agnes” are the first tastes of the duo’s collaboration and sets the tone for what’s to come.
